Frequently asked questions

How does Live Painting work?

1. Consultation: We'll start by discussing your vision for the painting and the details of your wedding.

2. Preparation: We'll arrive the day before to capture the background scene.  Lynton will then go back to the hotel    room and start painting the background setting.

3. Live Painting: As your guests arrive and throughout the ceremony and reception, Lynton will paint live, allowing    you and your guests to watch the painting come to life!

4. Finishing Touches: After the event, Lynton will take the painting back to his studio for final touches.

5. Delivery: You'll receive your finished portrait within 4-5 weeks.

How do we decide what to paint?

We'll work together to choose the perfect moment to capture. Whether it's your first kiss, a heartfelt moment between you and your partner, or a favourite spot at your venue, Lynton will create a personalised masterpiece and

will offer expert advice on composition and style to ensure the painting is truly special.

Can you still paint if my ceremony is short?

Absolutely! Even if your ceremony is only 30 minutes, Lynton can still capture the essence of your special day! After the ceremony, Lynton will continue working on the painting, using photos as reference, to ensure accuracy, and allowing your guests to watch the artwork come to life.

What are specific venue requirements?

Lynton's setup is minimal and doesn't require much assistance from the venue staff, just a small space with a nearby power socket. This space should offer a clear view of the scene to be painted, whether indoors or outdoors.

Will it be finished on the same night?

Some of your guests may be amazed and think so, however Lynton is a perfectionist and insists on studio work.  Due to the nature of oil paints, a live portrait won't be completely finished on the same day.  Oil paintings require time to dry and develop their unique depth and richness. Including drying and applying a protective varnish.  This ensures the artwork is preserved for generations to come.

Do you travel?

Absolutely! While we're based in North Yorkshire, UK, we're happy to travel within 50 miles of Great Ayton without charging a travel fee.

Do you travel by plane?

We do love to travel and will happily accommodate all destinations.  We would be thrilled to learn more about your destination wedding so that we can provide a quote.

Do we need accommodation?

Depending on the time of day and location of your wedding, additional accommodation fees may apply.
